Graters

How do I clean a cheese grater?

I have a five sided cheese grater that i use all the time. But the finest grates on it which are super tiny are frickin impossible to clean. Im thinking of buying a new one but i will have the same problem. Ive used knives, forks, foil. Nothing works. Soaked it a few times, doesnt work much. Ofcourse sponges and towels just get grated when i try it that way. I clean the inside of it, but the outside is still clogged. Yuck! Weird question to some probly, but not to those who use these things a lot, im sure u can relate!

  1. run it under hot water
  2. I use a toothbrush to clean the outside of mine
  3. most ppl soak it in hot water then use a toothbrush or one of those baby bottle cleaner to clean it out...
  4. Place the grater on low heat on a skillet....You know the rest.
  5. I keep a small brass bristled brush in my kitchen for cleaning tiny grater teeth. I think it's made for automotive use but works great in the kitchen as well.
