Can you substitute mozzarella cheese for parmesan cheese in alfredo sauce?
i only have a littleeee bit of parmesan cheese left but like half a cup of mozzarella. why won't it work? why won't it work? ohh ok. yeah i figured that but i found this recipe for alfredo sauce online that included mozzarella cheese.

- It won't work. Just put as much parm as you have in and skip the rest. You will at least have a very flavorful cream sauce that will be good. Mozzarella will not melt properly in your sauce. It won't work because mozzarella does not have the same melting characteristics as parm. --edit-- If you found a recipe then go ahead and try it. Good luck with it, I hope it works for you.

- Parmesan is an aged hard cheese and mozzarella is a fresh unaged soft cheese. Totally different beasts.
- Parm will melt & get creamy, moz will be stringy & gooey. You can use Romano or other hard cheese.
