Graters

How do I clean a 4 sided cheese grater without a dishwasher?

There are things stick in the littlest holes that a sponge won't get (or I will cut up the sponge). How do I clean it without a dishwasher? I used the little sharp holes to get lemon zest and not all of it comes out!

  1. I'd say put it in the washing machine
  2. Check out this link-hope this helps http://www.ehow.com/how_2316310_clean-cheese-grater.html
  3. soak it in hot soapy water, wash it with a dish rag.
  4. very carefully
  5. I use a baby bottle brush and just run it back and forth and up and down on both sides. It tears the bristles up a bit, but it works really well for me. You may have to soak the grater in hot water for about 20 min first to help loosen the "stuck-good" stuff.
  6. Soak it in boiling water and washing up liquid!
  7. Try using the sponge on the inside of the box instead of on the outside. It should push most of the zest out and whatever you miss will likely fall out when dry and shaken.
  8. Use a dish mop or bottle-brush from the inside.
  9. Use a toothbrush. I save old tooth brushes when I replace mine. Make sure they are clean. When things like this comes up I can use the brush and if it gets messed up , no problem, throw it away.
