How long does Parmesan Cheese (shredded) stay good?

Shredded Parmesan cheese is kind of dry anyway, how long does it stay good after it's been opened? I know that theres a date on the package but I want to assume thats if it's not been opened! Thanks! I need the shredded for a specific recipe

1. I buy Kraft Grated in the shaker jar it lasts at least a year (???) I've never used the shredded..
2. 3-4 months if refrigerated in an airtight container.
3. It can last for a long time (a month or two), especially if you buy the pre-shredded stuff (if you buy a chunk of cheese and shred it yourself, it doesn't last as long).
4. I know the Kraft pamansian last about 1 year.

6. Fresh grated Parmigiano Reggiano has 60 days of shelf life before opening. After opening, it is declared to resist for one week in the fridge, but you should look at it and smell it - trust your senses ;) It could be good for other 2 weeks. The one which stays good for 1 year is a dehydrated version of this cheese. If possible you should always chose the fresh one.. The cheese used for the dehydrated version is always of poor quality..
