Why are cheese graters so difficult to clean?

4. Use a brush with plastic bristles. Using a cloth or sponge is just stupidity.
5. Ready grated cheese... a wonder invention. =D
6. why the problems? wash it inside with a soapy pad, then turn it over and wash WITH the cutouts, never against them... failing that, buy a diswasher
7. Because just as you get all the cheese out, you've then got to clean up the blood and skin.
8. its part of life's little torture's we have to endure.half fill the sink withh soapy water so as you submerge the grater. leave to soak for 5 mins, then use a dishwashing brush to wash both sides of the grater.

10. Use a baby bottle cleaning brush. It saved my life as it was crumbling around me because of this major flaw in the design of graters......
11. You're rubbing your hand against it the wrong way, work from the bottom up, not the top down - it hurts less.
12. I bought a plastic one and I just chuck it in the dishwasher :)

14. Cheese graters have ruined many a life. It is one of the leading causes of suicide.
15. This annoys me, too. It's because the cheese gets stuck in the blade bits, and it's quite hard to get out because the blade is quite sharp. And when the cheese does come out, it leaves little pieces of cheesy remains.
16. coz they grate your fingers and peel the skin off your hands! use a scrubber, hahaha

18. Mine's dreadful, too ! It's a square one with hole things in for nutmegs etc - I'm sure it's a health hazard
19. Bin it and but a new one from Poundland whenever you need a new one

22. I hold mine in a pot of boiling water and it melts the cheese of and then it floats to the top ; )
23. I D K .. it annoys me so much I just buy the ready-grated cheese now ... its ..er, ...great !!!
