how are you supposed to clean cheese graters...?
...without destroying your cloth?

- I tend to just run mine under the tap on full blast to get all of the little bits out before wiping it down. Make sure you don't grate the cloth.. go in the opposite direction!
- you rub the cloth over it in one direction only. Like from the top of the grater to the bottom. Really works for me.
- I found using very hot water melts the cheese away. Let it soak and then use a stiff brush to clean it. It may shred your brush, but they are cheap enough to replace. :-)
- it depends what type you have, if you have a grater which has four different sides gently run a tap over it, put some washing up liquid on a cloth gently wipe the inside, where the sharp cutting bits AREN'T facing. then vigorously dunk it under the water to washa away the loosened bits of food (cheeeese:) haha. if your really careful you can gently clean the sharp bits jsut fiddle about .lol :) x peace
- Use very hot water and let the grater soak for a little while. (Maybe 20-30 minutes or so.) This should soften the cheese on the grater. To avoid using the cloth, try an S.O.S pad or alternative scrubbing object. In the future to save yourself a hassle, clean the cheese grater as soon as you're finished using it.
- Maybe you could just clean back and forth softly. Or don't use cloth, just use the appropriate cleaner for the grater. Or you could just wash it with hot water.
- a brush and detergent...
- Well, I always clean my from the back, or inside, if it is one of the four-sided ones, to eliminate as much of the cheese as I can...and then wash it on the outside going one-way, so as not to pick the cloth on any of the sharp grates...that usually does the trick...especially if I clean it as soon as I have used it, or if I was too busy cooking to get to it immediately, I soak it in warm, soapy water. **As a rule, I run a sink of dishwater when I begin cooking, and clean as I go. It makes kitchen clean-up so much easier after dinner.
- rinse it under very hot water and use an old toothbrush to scrub it
