Open Parmesan Cheese left out of fridge overnight; safe to eat?
I left an already opened container of grated Parmesan out of the refrigerator overnight. Is it still safe to eat? I thought that maybe it would be okay, since it's not like any other type of cheese/dairy product?

- Should be fine,,,,its got plenty of salt in it.
- If it still smells fresh, I would still use it.
- Should be absolutely fine. Nicer bought in a chunk and grated/shaved as needed and then can also be left out of the fridge without drying out.
- If it's that Kraft stuff in the green can, it is fine
- Yup, you could probably drive around with the green can stuff in the trunk of your car for a week and it would be fine, but don't. On the counter overnight? It's just aged more baby!
- It is fine. Assuming your cat didn't hack a hairball in it or something. :o)
- It will be fine, I keep mine in the pantry.
- No problem: parmesan is remarkably tough. (After all, it's left out at room temperature for a year and a half to age.)
