Graters

Open Parmesan Cheese left out of fridge overnight; safe to eat?

I left an already opened container of grated Parmesan out of the refrigerator overnight. Is it still safe to eat? I thought that maybe it would be okay, since it's not like any other type of cheese/dairy product?

  1. Should be fine,,,,its got plenty of salt in it.
  2. If it still smells fresh, I would still use it.
  3. Should be absolutely fine. Nicer bought in a chunk and grated/shaved as needed and then can also be left out of the fridge without drying out.
  4. If it's that Kraft stuff in the green can, it is fine
  5. Yup, you could probably drive around with the green can stuff in the trunk of your car for a week and it would be fine, but don't. On the counter overnight? It's just aged more baby!
  6. It is fine. Assuming your cat didn't hack a hairball in it or something. :o)
  7. It will be fine, I keep mine in the pantry.
  8. No problem: parmesan is remarkably tough. (After all, it's left out at room temperature for a year and a half to age.)
