hot parmesan cheese spread?

Years ago I had a wonderful baked parmesan cheese spread. Main ingredient was the cheese, no other major ingredients, such as artichokes. Can anyone help.?? May have used cream cheese...not sure.

  1. Well, it would have to have something other than parmesan. Cream cheese is a good guess. Was it served warm? Could there have been other ingredients like artichoke but you just didn't know it?
  2. Sour cream, perhaps? I saw a recipe that had: 1 package cream cheese 1/4 cup sour cream 1/2 cup grated parm cheese 1/2 teaspoon onion salt 1 teaspoon worchestershire sauce I suppose you could heat it (?) I know of another where you hollow out a whole bread loaf and pour in a chese mixture of parmesan (and other cheeses) with milk, onion and garlic powder, worchestershire sauce, butter, flour, and bake it all inside the hollowed out loaf... and you save the bread pieces you've ripped out of the loaf and use them to dip into the baked loaf full of cheese. Quite yummy and a lot like fondue.
  3. Had to be a cold concoction 'cause parmesan cheese will wad up into a gumball if it made above 50 degree temps! I seem to remember a flvor packet for these dips.
  4. Hot Parmesan Cheese Spread 1 pkg. (8 oz.) shredded Colby/Monterrey Jack Cheese or Cream Cheese 1 cup (4 oz.) grated Parmesan Cheese 1 cup Mayonnaise 1 small onion, finely chopped 1 clove garlic, minced Mix ingredients in small bowl. Spoon into hollowed bread shell. Cover shell with top of bread; place on cookie sheet.Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Serve with bread pieces or crackers. Makes 3 1/2 cups. To reheat: Microwave filled bread shell with top on HIGH 1 to 2 minutes or until thoroughly heated, stirring once. You can add cooked bacon, artichoke and spinach, etc. to this for other dips and spreads.
