Graters

what kind of Grater do I need to make Daikon Oroshi?

Also I am looking for multi purpose other than Daikon. I am looking at this right now, but was not sure... Microplane Grater/Zester http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B00004S7V8/sr=1-1/qid=1265636917/ref=dp_otherviews_2?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&img=2&qid=1265636917&sr=1-1

  1. Finest one, I grate my Daikon Oroshi with the finest grater I have at home. Do not use blender.
  2. Many, many products to make daikon oroshi are sold in Japan. You can find many products there. http://search.borderless.rakuten.com/borderless/search.action?m=false&vm=2&f=1&sm=0&k=daikon&tl=215783&l=en
  3. I think this might work better for you. http://www.kushistore.com/acatalog/Daikon___Ginger_Graters.html The microplane would just make it into really small strips. Some box graters like this one sometimes have a really fine one too. I believe it's the Parmesan cheese grating side. Anyway it's the side on you right in the picture. http://www.graters.org/images/view/7211/15502gratersjpg.html
  4. I've lived in USA for 30 years. Simply said, you need a Daikon Oroshi Ki (a special grator for Daikon Oroshi). No American grator will do the job, period. Regardless of how fine it is made. Daikon Oroshi Ki is not expensive. (If is's made of plastic. Procelain one is expensive.) Go to a Japanese grocery shop or super market if you live near one. And ask for Daikon Oroshi Ki.
