Who invented the cheesegrater?

Who invented the cheese grater, and when was it invented? Ive looked all over for the answer to my question. I don't mean the Parmesan cheese grater, mind you, that is a very specialized sort of cheese grater. I want to know about cheese graters in general.

1. It seems that the first graters were not invented for cheese but for manioc root ( which produces tapoica), by the the Brazilian women in the 2nd half of the 19th century, using a flat piece of wood studded with small pointed stones as a grater. Other than the above I can find no information of when and how the cheese grater came to be.
